Who is Emily Beattie?
Hey, I’m Emily.
Painter, nature lover, storyteller, wife, mom, and an all-around joyful weirdo just trying to capture the beauty of life in brushstrokes.
I grew up in the wild beauty of Maine, surrounded by forests, lakes, mountains, and streams—pure, untamed nature in all its realness. My childhood was spent outside, exploring the woods behind my mother’s home in Standish, swimming in Sebago Lake, and adventuring deep into the Western Mountains of Maine, where my paternal family’s roots run deep.
Nature was my playground, my sanctuary, and the place that always brought me back to my true self. It still is.
How I Got Here…
I found painting during a dark time…
My husband (then fiancé) and I had just moved back to Maine from Texas in December 2019 — right before the world shut down.
It was the height of the COVID pandemic lockdowns and I was looking for anything that would make me feel something other than stress and uncertainty.
Life has a messy, complicated, beautiful way of pushing you exactly where you need to go. And for me, that place was art.
Painting started as a way to process emotions—to turn chaos into something meaningful, to take fleeting moments of gratitude and make them last forever.
It became my happy dance, my therapy (aside from my actual therapists — thanks, Alice and Wendy, you tha real ones), and my way of bottling up the magic of the world around me.
I paint what stops me in my tracks — the way light spills over the mountains, the quiet glow of a sunrise, the way nature makes you pause and remember what actually matters.
And now? I get to share that magic with you.
Painting, Motherhood, & The Magic in Everyday Moments
These days, I paint out of a sunny little corner in my kitchen in my home in Gorham, Maine, where I live with my husband and our wild, wonderful little boy (who turns 3 this June).
Motherhood has changed how I see the world. It’s forced me to get to know myself in a way I never expected. It’s also made me slow down, notice more, appreciate more, and savor the fleeting beauty of everyday life.
Sunrises over my backyard, golden light filtering through the trees, the simple joy of being fully present—these are the things I try to capture in my paintings. Because life moves fast, but art lets us hold onto the moments that matter.
The Prints: A True Labor of Love & Craftsmanship
When you buy a print from me, you’re not just getting a beautiful image—you’re investing in a carefully crafted, high-quality fine art piece designed to last a lifetime.
I work with a small, female-owned print studio in Portland, Maine that specializes in fine art reproduction. Every piece is:
🎨 Scanned with incredible precision to capture the depth, richness, and texture of my original paintings.
🌈 Color-corrected by hand on a professional, high-calibrated monitor to ensure stunning accuracy.
🖨 Printed using museum-quality archival inks on 100% cotton rag fine art paper, designed to last 200+ years without fading.
✍️ Hand-inspected, signed, and numbered by me—because every piece deserves personal attention.
This isn’t mass production. It’s a slow, intentional, small-batch process, ensuring that every print feels as special as an original.
And this is a purchase you can feel good about—because every cent directly supports small business owners, artisans, and a creative process rooted in care, passion, and integrity.
Why My Art? (And Why You Should Buy Art You Love)
Art isn’t just decoration. It’s energy. It’s a reminder to pause, feel something, and see the world differently.
When you bring one of my pieces into your home, you’re bringing in a moment of awe, a connection to nature, and a little bit of the energy I pour into every brushstroke.
If my art speaks to you, I hope you’ll find the perfect piece to bring into your space.
Thanks for being here—I’m so grateful to share this journey with you.
